Fairy Tail 319 Breakdown! The end is near.

Welcome to this week’s breakdown, Fairy Tail fans!!

OTP. Even Mashima ships them.

OTP. Even Mashima ships them.

After last week’s terrible “plot twist”, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy Gajeel and Rogue’s fight… and that’s exactly what happened. The Iron Dragon starts eating shadows out of nowhere. No foreshadowing in any past chapters or anything.

Despite the absurdity of his actions, he becomes a beast, quickly overwhelming Rogue, even extracting him from his own shadow! Then he uses “Iron Shadow Dragon’s Roar”, defeating him.

This just screams "DBZ".

This just screams “DBZ”.

Now that the fight is over, I’d like to ask… what do you fans think of Gajeel eating Rogue’s shadows?

I hate it even after seeing its power in action. 😀

Anyway, it looks like Gajeel has lost the shadows after using that technique, fortunately. Rogue also loses his convenient power-up because “Shadow” escapes, with Mavis commenting on its malevolence.

Moving on to the Castle, Natsu’s group is beating up the royal guards when the Garou Knights reappear. It looks like they have one more member who’s stronger than all of them, but he’s not there. He’ll probably arrive soon and Fairy Tail will have to fight him. They’re already tired, so how will they be able to defeat him?! I have a feeling that this won’t end well and they’ll be captured… Exactly what Future Lucy was trying to avoid.

You looked way better with the mask on. >__>

You looked way better with the mask on. 😛

In the meantime, Arcadios has managed to avoid the royal guards and has put on the White Lily armor that’s only to be donned for battle. He doesn’t say anything about Yukino, so where could she be? Did she really abandon her friends?!

Anyway, Arcadios is looking for the princess because he has realized that she’s the one who’s been deceiving him, not Future Lucy… *GASP*

What a twist!

What a twist!

Mashima’s misdirection is amazing. He did a great job at making us focus our attention on Future Lucy and completely disregard Princess Hisui. I had no doubts whatsoever about her honesty!

This could still be a trick, though. Maybe someone else is manipulating Hisui? It could be “Shadow”… or maybe it’s the King himself? He has been strangely absent. Why hasn’t anyone told him about what’s going to happen? It looks like the only thing he cares about is the Grand Magic Games. Is he an incompetent ruler or is it just a ploy to make him seem innocent when he’s really the mastermind?

What do you think?

Well, that brings this breakdown to an end. I can’t wait to find out the mastermind behind everything!! See you next week!

  1. It’s out!!

  2. I don’t see the point of making a big deal out of Gajeel eating shadows…
I mean it had to happen at some point or Gajeel would have just fallen by the wayside compared to Natsu.

The ultimate question is: Will Mahima ever explain why the dragon slayers can take on other elements?

  3. Hey. Thanks for another breakdown Dragon. It was a bit short and sweet, but then, with this kind of chapter, I know there’s not much to really pull out of it.

Coinciding with your points about Gajeel, I personally didn’t like this out of the blue power-up, not because it was out of the blue (this is Fairy Tail and by now we should be used to that), but because it didn’t make any sense to me. Still, I’ll probably get over it fairly quickly because luckily for HIiro, he’s managed to introduce other, far more interesting elements to his story that do a good job of drawing my attention away from his facepalm moment.

I personally think that future Lucy is telling the truth and that she did come back to protect everyone. No matter what she went through in the future, I don’t see her, or any of Fairy Tail, ever betraying their own in any way. I think Fairy Tail wizards are the kind who would choose death over hurting their nakama. I also think Archadios isn’t wearing that armor just for show. I think he is prepared for the fact that there might be a powerful, sinister force driving the princess’ actions and that he may have to combat whatever that may be, whether it’s the princess herself or something else.

It was a good twist indeed.

As for the next chapter, it looks like the focus will be turning to Laxus if the title is anything to go by. I’m not sure why though because I feel Hiiro is ignoring Erza’s battle despite building it up so much. Perhaps he is saving the best for last, but either way, I hope he doesn’t put it off for too long.

  4. Good job dragon. I would be commenting on this section more but I am not liking the whole Gajeel eat’s two shadows thing.

and I just found out a few weeks ago that theres a FT section too.

I really don’t know what’s going on with the Dragon Festival thing. I do hope Lexus has a more competitive match. Erza’s was close to competitive as it got. This time a FT hero is going up against a Saint. Should be real fun.

  5. @ Ten, The princess was a already a sketchy character. She is very secretive, and keeps a lot to her self, even knowledge of what the Eclipse can do.

What year is future Lucy from? Or is she just from a few days away?

And there’s still the Jeall sensing Zeref’s magic too. Don’t know how that’s going to fit into the fold too.

  6. So, what is going on in the Festival so far?

    Natsu escape party are cornered.

That same group has a Lucy from the future, who happens to know all about the castle’s blue prints

That group was split up as the White Knight (lily Knight) and Yukina spilt up with the group. She is also no where to be seen when that Knight goes to put on his armor.

Jellal is looking for the person who had something to do with Zeref’s magic. That makes sense since Jellal was under Zeref’s control at one point. I think he knows how it would feel.

Erza is fighting Minerva, after fighting Yagura (I think that’s her name). Lexus is going to throw down against the Wizard Saint

Mavis seems to think the Shadow from Rogue is malevolent. What purpose does that Shadow have? How long was it with Rogue for? Was it gathering information, or just messin’ around before the whole festival falls to crap…

And that leads to the 1000’s of Dragons who are going to invade the Festival. Where did they come from? Are they the Dragons who disappeared before the series? Are they under some ultimate form of dragon slayer magic that controls them?

There are tons of things going on, and I just don’t know where this story is going. There are a whole lot of things happening. I really want to see how they all will coincide. Pretty exciting stuff. Now choose something to talk about, and lets discuss!

  7. @Ten: Yeah, I didn’t have much to work with, so it ended up being kinda short.
Anyway, I also hope Mashima won’t put off Erza and Kagura’s battle for too long… It would lose a lot of the epicness that Hiro’s been building up for a long time.

@wiseman: “And that leads to the 1000′s of Dragons who are going to invade the Festival. Where did they come from? Are they the Dragons who disappeared before the series? Are they under some ultimate form of dragon slayer magic that controls them?”

This is the part that interests me the most. It’s really intriguing because we don’t know anything at all about where the dragons (except Acnologia) have been these past fourteen years… Nor do we know why they’re going to come back right now. It probably has something to do with Zeref and “the feast of dragons, demons and humans” that Datong was talking about, the Dragon King Festival, obviously.
One of Fairy Tail’s greatest mysteries is about to be revealed… This is so exciting!
