The Awesomeness World of Manga: ~Skip Beat!

Hillo there, Eva (dynamicentrance) reporting for duty. πŸ™‚ (yes, the name of the guide was changed after some suggestion. It might be a little more less confusing now. ^^)

First of all, sorry for leaving you all hanging for two weeks. It was a VERY sudden vacation ^^; I’m typing this up because I finally got the chance. The FMA anime breakdown will only come when I’m back from doing nothing my vacation, in around a week or so (at least I worked for this post *pouts*)

Seeing as the last installation of the Manga Guide was relatively popular, I decided to move on and chose a yet more popular manga, which I consider to be genius in its purest form: Skip Beat! The best, funniest and generally genius manga anyone could ever ask for! ^^

Guys, don’t fret. This is a shojo, yes, but I’ve read the whole thing and I wouldn’t call it girly any day. It’s a brilliant comedy– I’ve never laughed so much in my entire manga-reading career, as well as having a plot that captivates until you wake up and find yourself with OCD. XD

Mina character: Kyoko Mogami. Note pink overalls 8D

Main character: Kyoko Mogami. Note pink overalls 8D

The plot follows the life of Kyoko Mogami , a plain, sixteen year old girl who’s left her home town with her child-hood friend Shou to help him succeed in show buisness as a singer. Kyoko’s always adored Sho and dreamed about them being the perfect couple. When he decides to pursue a career in music, bored of the small town they lived in, she wastes no time in running away with him, only to be stuck with multiple jobs, trying to pay the rent for the huge apartment and take care of it while Sho spends most of his time away and ignoring her.

Kyoko’s kind and jolly. She doesn’t notice how she’s losing a chance at her own life (and high school) by mindlessly following her idol. But one day– disaster strikes. She overhears Sho telling his manager how Kyoko’s nothing to him– a plain, boring country girl that’s more of a maid than a friend.

Note: Little demon is the best character (and her sisters ^^ KAWAII!) Oh, and... IMMINENT EXPLOSION FROM 'PLAIN BORING GIRL'!

At that point, something inside Kyoko clicked (actually, it was a small demon that turned the key in her Pandora’s box and released her demons) and she plain out exploded at the pop idol.

The expressions on all the characters' faces are priceless. ONe of the reasons why this manga is kick-ass! (oh, and the second reason are the demons ^^)

Kyoko then swears to take her revenge on the idol. When asked (skeptically) by Sho how exactly would she do that, she decides that she would beat him in show business, no matter what. She changes her personality and looks, ready to do anything for revenge. And so begins the long and arduous journey of a girl who is filled with hate and has lost the ability to love, climbing the mountain of populraity.

But some obstructions on the way might not be that bad…

Meet Ren, the most popular actor in Japan, who resents Kyoko for her reasons for joining the show buisness. Throw in Lory Takarada, the most eccentric person in the world and director of LME (a talent agency) who decides that to be a great actress (a job suited for Kyoko), she must join and work for the Love Me section, a place for those talents that do not know how to express love.

Kyoko and Ren, a very strange, developing relationship. ^^

Can this plain girl reach the full heights of show biz? Well… first she’ll have to get used to playing a giant chicken in a quiz show. ^^;

Now just to find out if this was successful, I think I’ll need your opinions:

Cheerios and happy to finally get this up,

Eva
